Who am I to tell you what to do?

Well, I can see how you could be skeptical about working with me if you don’t know me. So, I thought I would take this opportunity to share a little so you can see how you would relate to me, why you would trust me and appreciate the value that I can offer to bettering your health and fitness habits.

I know it’s hard to balance life, work and family priorities while being pulled in every direction. Everyone is busy and the information overload isn’t helping. I don’t want to give you one more thing to do, I want you to use your time as efficiently as possible to allow you to accomplish the goal of taking care of your health and at the same time free up time for other things you love to do.

So, here is my story.

I grew up as an active child with no car so we walked everywhere. And, I mean, everywhere. I twirled baton (yep, even went to Worlds Baton Championships. Who knew?), then I rowed for a couple of years in high school (which explains my quads and my desire to teach people how to ‘properly’ use the rowing machines in the gym).  In University, I did an Olympic sailing campaign and sailed around the world. In addition to the hours of training and stiff International competition,  we also took advantage of our surroundings and rode camels in Dubai, danced our hearts out in Spain, pet kangaroos in Australia and played tourists in Finland, France and Holland. It was exhilarating, but also a lot of work and a ton of travel. When the campaign came to an end, the reality that my entire life had been wrapped up in one goal was obvious, and I was at a complete loss of what to do with my life and my Human Kinetics degree.

My skipper and me sailing our 470 into the sunset.

I had coached sailing and gymnastics for 9 years each and adored helping people thrive physically, mentally and emotionally, so couldn’t imagine walking away from such a fulfilling role.

Sticking to what I knew best, I continued to spend a lot of time working out, which is where I found my mentor who introduced me to a 10+ year career with the incredible Personal Training team at the Arbutus Club. In this time, I  also launched my own company, The Right Fit Fitness, where I offered 1-1 Personal Training, Corporate Health and Wellness Programs as well as my recent addition of Online Training.

In the past few years, I have moved to Montreal and back to Vancouver, had 2 children, spent 6 months volunteering as a family in El Salvador and recently relocated to Kelowna.

Those experiences helped me grow as a person and through it all, my clients were always a priority.  Seeing others achieve goals and feel empowered is the best feeling in the world. Whether it be in my 1-1 clients, small or large group sessions.

For me, Personal Training was never something that I dabbled with as a form of income on the side. I have always been 100% dedicated and I feel that my level of expertise, compassion and commitment is perfectly fit for what I do and what I offer.

I know what it’s like to train for something, I know what happens to your body and your mind when you have children, I know what it’s like to turn 40 and feel the effects of aging creeping up and I know how to deliver safe and effective programs with an emphasis on FORM and FUNCTION for others who have gone through similar experiences.

  • I get and keep people out of pain so they can do the activities they really love.
  • I design awesome Fitness Programs to give clients flexibility in their busy and unpredictable lives and consistency leading to great results.
  • I practice what I preach and do the best I can to fit workouts and activity  into my crazy days.  I am the Real Deal.
  • I love what I do and I love my clients.
So, there you go, those are the experiences that got me to where and who I am.  I love people, travelling, kiteboarding and if I could be any animal, I would be an eagle.

So, should I be telling you want to do?

Only if you want to achieve your goals more efficiently with less pain through super fun and motivating programs.

Still not sure?

Don’t take it from me…

“Dawn is an exceptional trainer. Her deep understanding of how our body functions, how to prevent injuries or pains and how to strengthen and balance our body through very specific exercise put my body in a place I haven’t been since having my second child. I am amazed at the speed I have managed to heal my lower back/hip pain and improve my posture, running and weight loss. I feel healthier, more balanced and happier than ever!” – Milena

“I would rather use Dawn online because of her focus on form and overall knowledge than a local trainer in town.” – Sarah

“Dawn’s Core Transformation program has changed my life! The online format makes it incredibly manageable – I’m one of those crazy busy working moms, and I have found it so easy to fit the program into the small pockets of time that exist in my schedule. It is also a program that I can continue in the off season and I can incorporate into my day to day activities  Thanks, Dawn!” – Sabine
